Unreconciled
UNRECONCILED, an 80-minute solo play, takes audiences on a magic carpet ride through parental love, confusion, and resilience during difficult times. It paints a moving portrait of working-class life in a whiskey-drenched, sports-crazed, Irish Catholic suburb of Philadelphia in the 1980s.
Based on the true story of a 13-year-old boy cast as Jesus in his school’s Passion Play, directed by a parish priest, the play chronicles a survivor’s journey as he confronts his past, navigates a victims’ reparations program set up by the Catholic Church, and discovers the courage to use his voice.
Winner of the Berkshire Theatre Critics Association Awards for Outstanding Solo Performance and Outstanding Premiere of a New Play, UNRECONCILED has garnered critical acclaim in both the United States and Europe. Critics have called the show “theater at its finest,” “simply extraordinary artistry,” and “masterful… lightning in a bottle on stage—a thunderously impactful one-man show.”
Proceeds from this show will benefit The Unreconciled Project and the WCU Theatre Alumni Diversity Scholarship for Emerging BIPOC Artists.
The show is 80 minutes, no intermission, with a brief talk-back following the show.
There will be a moderated post-show discussion with retired West Chester University theatre professor, Jane Saddoris.
Representatives from the Crime Victims' Center of Chester County will be on hand during and after the performance to support survivors and their families.
