Merrily We Roll Along tells the story of three idealistic friends—composer Franklin Shepard, lyricist Charley Kringas, and writer Mary Flynn—whose deep bond and artistic dreams unravel over 20 years due to fame, compromise, and personal betrayals, all told in reverse chronological order from their disillusioned present back to their hopeful college days.
