Our Town

by Thornton Wilder; Co-directed by Michele Bolay & Katie Farnum

Our Town is an American classic that, through a combination of acting and storytelling, presents the story of the fictional small town of Grover's Corners. In three acts, "Daily Life," "Love and Marriage," and "Death and Dying," we encounter a range of experiences and emotions that are universal, regardless of gender, race, or country of origin. In the great American tradition of art that celebrates and mourns everyday bits of life, Our Town shows us with its direct language and unsentimental portrayals, that the "simple things" are rarely that.

"Our Town is not a play about the evaporated glory of simpler yesteryears. On the contrary, it whispers to us the urgent necessity of living in the here and now - which is all anybody in Grover's Corners ever had, all anybody anywhere really has." ~ Charles Isherwood, The New York Times

Actors reading for Rebecca, Wally, and Joe/Jo will be auditioned first each session. The building will be open 30 minutes prior to audition times to allow time for filling out audition forms and conflict schedules. Callbacks by invitation only: Wednesday, October 25 at 7:00 pm

Auditions will consist of cold readings from the script. You may be asked to read as a character of the opposite sex. No special accents or dialects are necessary. If specific readings are required for callbacks, we will send them via email to those we wish to see on Wednesday evening. PLEASE BRING YOUR CALENDAR WITH YOU as we will be asking about rehearsal conflicts. Headshots and resumes are NOT required.

The directors are VERY interested in non-traditional casting and are actively seeking women, PoC, and differently-abled actors in a variety of age groups.
